+27 Product Ideas For Your Print On Demand Store

What is Print On Demand (POD)? It’s pretty much a digital printed image (logos, patterns, quotes, etc.) on blank products. Some big POD business companies are: Printful, Printify, WizardPins, Teelaunch, Lulu, Shinon, PrintBest etc.

These POD business companies will take care of the fulfillment when a purchase is made on your website as long as you integrate with them so they can be notified.

The POD company will ship out the selected product to the customer's house address with a tracking number so the buyer can see when it’s going to arrive at his/her home.

This means, you can just focus on your ecommerce website to make more profit and I recommend using GrooveKart

… because they have tons of FREE tutorials that both Frank Salinas and Jhon Garcia upload to Youtube to show you the process of how to build a store from scratch to setting up the price, best tactics for upsells, how to create coupons, how to drive traffic to your online shop, etc.

Print On Demand has been around for more than 2 decades but as of 2010s all the way to this year in age, there has been a huge increase in companies which entails that this market is not going to die anytime soon but it also means that the industry is getting more and more saturated.

The way to stand out from all of the competition once you integrate with a POD company with your ecommerce website, is to go after a specific audience as in a group of people who love X thing.

A few examples of this could be: people who love animals, people who love nerdy jokes, people who love sports, people who love coffee, people who love eating healthy, people who love going to the gym, people who love taking care of the environment, etc.

Once you find your “group of people” make products related to what they like with images or quotes. For instance if you are going after the people who love doing yoga, a t-shirt quote can be “Yoga adds years to your life and life to your years”.

Another example can be adding a picture of someone doing yoga and the background can be like the sunset going down behind the mountains.

At the end of the day, you can always get inspired by going to big stores like Target, Walmart, Sam’s Club and all the other big franchise stores to get ideas and mold it to your own industry, to the audience you believe they will buy from you, your “Dream Customer”.

Now, if you already have a store I suggest to check this blog I named "7 Ways To Drive Traffic To Your GrooveKart Store". Don't worry about the ecom website builder or the marketplace, these principles applies to all ecommerce business to generate more customers and sales.

Overall, Print On Demand can be a profitable business as long as you are using marketing strategies to physiologically create a desire for the customer to want to get it only from you, without even thinking about cheaper options like amazon!

In this blog, I’d like to go through more than 27 ideas for print on demand so you can place your images on these blank products and promote them to the masses to start hearing the “ching-ching” notification sound on your android or iphone!

Print On Demand Product Ideas

1.- T-Shirts

Selling print on demand t-shirts is an awesome way to not just start your print on demand business but start off profitable as well. Most POD companies I’ve personally seen, their cost to print the t-shirt is about $15USD with about $3.00USD to ship.

Anything over $18USD is profit, so let’s say you make a very cool unique graphic design for the paramedic industry and you sell it at $29.95, you’d be making $11.95 profit. Sell like 100 of those and you make $1195.00 over a week or two! I hope you're seeing the potential here.

2.- Hoodies

Selling hoodies is another one of my favorites that I do in my ecommerce online store. These usually range about $5 to $10 more than the t-shirts so of course, you’ll be pricing them at a higher price to make a profit. I always shoot to make $20 profit for each one of the hoodies.

Hoodies are good to sell during late September all the way to early March of the year in the United States because this is when winter arrives and it’s cold outside to most of the states. Maximize on this opportunity to bring in big bucks with your print on demand hoodies!

3.- Leggings

Selling print on demand leggings to ladies can be a hit or miss, unless you target a very specific group of ladies who like to see their favorite colors, patterns, holidays, etc.., on the leggings. Know your “who” before you start selling your leggings.

A quick example can be to people who like doing yoga (like I mentioned before). Make the leggings look like a sunset with some inspirational words in a really cool pattern that complements the sunset and I think it can hit very powerful, making you lots of sales!

4.- Dresses

Print on demand dresses is something I am personally playing around with because the idea is sexy, but I’m not quite sure what unique designs I want to embed on the blank canvas to make it look very appealing for the ladies.

However, I do see many ladies wearing their dresses when I am at Starbucks doing these blogs (like right now). Many of them like the vivid colors stirpe design so I will later down the road be focusing more on this, especially when summer comes around!

As you can see, I’m getting my intel from places that I go and I’m always very alert to the fashion trends in my industry to create something I know with a high chance my “dream customer” will like.

5.- Tank Tops

Selling print on demand tank tops for print on demand is just like selling t-shirts and hoodies, as long as it resonates with the dream customer, the chances of them getting it are very high!

You can always slap the same image on the back or you can do it with a twist on it so it can look different. When selling tank tops, I feel like a very good audience would be the group of people who like going to the gym to exercise.

6.- Hats

Almost everyone nowadays has a hat or two in their bedroom closet, whether they wear one or not. Find something that triggers their emotions with a quote or a very image only “insiders” would know.

Let’s say you're selling a print on demand hat to me and I am a big fan of an anime show called “Jujutsu Kaisen”.

Find who the top 3 main characters are and the top 3 antagonists characters are and create an image where 2 of the characters are like fore heading each other ready to destroy one another.

As you can see, you are targeting a group of people who like anime “insiders”. This will increase your chances to make more sales to a narrow audience instead of fighting for the entire market who likes hats with the same design. Yes, I just revealed one of my tactics and I hope you put it to use!

7.- Tote Bags

Selling print on demand tote bags can result to be very profitable. Every once in a while, I see many of the college students wearing tote bags instead of buying very expensive bags like Gucci, Prada, MK and all the other big brands maybe because they are going to school.

Capitalizing on the college school industry is not a bad idea because you're helping the students save money and have an easy and relaxed way to carry their laptops, school supplies and wallet inside of a nice looking tote bag.

Many POD companies have this blank canvas product available. Good luck partnering up and choosing the best one you think your customer would like to wear every time they go out shopping.

8.- Laptop Cases

Selling print on demand laptop cases is a fun way to bring a smile to the customer's face every time they go and reach for their laptop to get to work. I see this happen many of times, when I go to starbucks and sometimes because of the image the laptop sleeve has

… conversations have sparked up between two or more people who did not know each other but they found something in common and they talk about that specific “thing” for minutes, sometimes even for hours!

This is such a cool thing to experience because we can use some of that context we see and apply it to our product description making the laptop cases or sleeves even more enticing for our dream customer.

9.- Fanny Packs

Selling print on demand fanny packs is a bit tricky but when you find the right dream customer you are chasing after to provide them this solution to one of their problems, it will sell like cheesecake, fast! Well, let’s hope so…lol…

An example of a dream customer or a target audience would be parents who need to stuff their pampers on a bag and when they need it, it’s easy for them to pull out. I score even more points if I know what the parents like so they can wear the fanny pack with pride!

10.- Backpacks

Selling print on demand backpacks to students going back to school is a hot trend during September, January and April. As you already know, find something that triggers the students' emotions to buy your backpacks and you can even offer discounts after they purchase one of them.

I don’t go to school, but I have my backpack with me everywhere I go because I have my laptop with me…so if you know my “hot buttons”, I may even be your next customer to buy a backpack from you or any other cool thing I may like!

11.- Phone Cases

Selling print on demand phone cases may sound like a simple idea but once you find your ideal audience and place your freshly created new phone case design in their “face”, they will not just buy one but probably two, to have one as a backup.

An example can be selling phone cases to football fans with their favorite team’s logo. Make sure to add your own creatives to it because you don’t want to have copyright infringement. In other words, make the logo “cartoonish” with like footballs raining all over the phone case!

The best thing about phone cases, is that the cost for us to get them is under $10 so this means, we can sell it for about $30 or so because it is a unique design and besides, I’ve seen phone stores selling their stuff for about $50 and it’s made out of the same material!

12.- Shoes

Selling print on demand shoes to me is something new that I picked up recently but many other POD entrepreneurs have been doing it for a very long minute and if they are still doing it is because they are seeing success with this product.

I like taking pictures when I go to the retail stores such as Champs, Nike Store, Guess, The North Face and a few others to get ideas for my POD business and the trend that I see on shoes is pattern designs.

To be more specific, geometric repetitive patterns. Like a simple chess board pattern on the pair of shoes but with color and maybe other geometric shapes over it so the design won’t look so plain, it gives it more life you can say.

13.- Coffee Mugs

Selling print on demand coffee mugs is everyone’s favorite POD product to start out with. This product is so popular that even regular normal people know about a few POD companies and even order them themselves with pictures of their family, friends or even pet animals.

The coffee mug size can vary from 11oz to 16oz and some POD companies have thermal coffee cups meaning, depending on the temperature of the liquid the cup will change from black to white. This is awesome! We can sell these for a higher price to make more profit!

14.- Pillow Cases

Selling Print on demand pillow cases is such a good “bedroom idea” for people who want to decor their personal space they sleep and wake up in. It’s a chance for the dream customer to have multiple different colors and happy vibes with many pillow options we can provide to them.

Yes, we can change the color of our unique design for the pillow case and instead of having the color red, we can change the color too blue, so this way the customer can get both options making us some extra easy cash in our wallet, just by having more than one color option!

To expand this idea even further to make even more profit. Let’s say you have a very cool unique geometric design, but now you add a cartoon character with a bubble quote saying “You’re the best”, now you can sell this pillow case design for an extra $10 or so!

15.- Posters

Selling print on demand posters can be tough, but like I’ve been saying… Once you find a market that loves a specific thing, create a unique design from scratch to avoid copyright infringement and place it in front of your ideal customers and they will be crazy to buy it.

An example can be like having two famous marvel characters facing off against each other ready to battle like “Batman VS Venom”. This is a good idea because who would’ve ever thought to see these two characters on a poster? I may even make this poster because I love my own idea…lol…

Now let’s say you don’t have any photoshop designing skills to create this masterpiece, simply hire a professional from fiverr and they will create this grandioso masterful piece of art. Yes, it may be expensive but you’ll make back when your customer’s buy this item from your store

… In other words, after the third customer everything else will be profit. This is one of my secrets to creating an awesome poster one time and selling it over and over again to keep making my wallet fatter and fatter and the fatter it is, the more sexy it looks…ha!

16.- Flags

Selling print on demand flags has the same concept as POD posters to start making some extra cash fast. People love unique designs that no-one else has either to make them feel cool about themselves or to make their friends and family jealous.

Yes, crazy enough having unique designs on blank canvas products can lead to “increase of status” and people wear it like a badge of honor. Is only natural that we show off things that make us feel unique and different from the rest of the crowd.

This is something I think about when I am creating my designs. This physiological tactic applies very well to POD flags!

17.- Towels

Selling print on demand towels is a fun item to have in your arsenal when the summer comes or for bathroom decor as well. People love engaging with stuff they feel very close to and even more if it’s something they can touch and feel.

Bringing back the same example about anime, create a unique design related to a very popular anime like a famous scene or a landmark and have a 30 second video showing it off your anime towel and the anime fans will melt for it!

When summer arrives, you can also create a very beachy vibe. Since we are talking about anime, maybe all the main anime characters can be swimming in the beach while playing volleyball and one with a ducky life saver because he doesn’t know how to swim!

18.- Stickers

Selling print on demand stickers is such a cool idea because most POD companies offer this product and they all add their own little twist to make them different from one and another. Some make them magnetic, others sparkly, others with unique shapes, etc.

Stickers can go very well on laptops, on the back of a phone case, coffee mugs and so many other household items. As you already know by now, find a market that likes a specific thing and make unique designs around that thing to start generating some profit.

Here is a secret, if the customer makes a purchase of the sticker… I’m pretty sure they will also like the unique design on a t-shirt, so that can be an upsell to increase your average cart value! I just keep on dropping more of my secrets to you...ha!

19.- Notebooks

Selling print on demand notebooks is a smart move to those who love to write or need to write like students who are in school and need to take notes. The cover would be where you will place your unique design because the rest of the notebook will be blank pages.

The best way to come up with an idea is just by simply browsing on the internet, going to your favorite shopping mall center or watching movies at home or at a movie theater.

When you see something that sparks your interest, that is usually a good sign for something! In this case, for notebooks!

20.- Shower Curtains

Selling print on demand shower curtains is such a fantastic way to generate a quick dollar in your pockets. Is not something we think about but when we see this idea, it is like we are having tons of epiphany moments to increase the thickness of our wallets…ha!

This right here may require some technical skill to create something beautiful, but just like I mentioned before, go to Fiverr and hire a professional with very awesome illustration skills to create your vision into reality.

Make sure to give the professional freelancer the right dimensions, so the design can fit perfectly on your POD shower curtain. Pro tip, don’t add like 20,000 colors because then it will look funky, stick to a simple 5 color selection, use coolors.co: they have awesome color pallets to choose from!

21.- Air Fresheners

Selling print on demand air fresheners sounds like a silly idea to us POD entrepreneurs but the reality is, people who love taking great care of their car or cars love a sweet aroma that is fresh to death maybe for: a date, to pick up a friend or family member or even to do Uber or Lyft.

There are a few POD companies that allow you to add your own custom design over their air fresheners and usually the few companies that carry them have a minimum of 3 different aromas.

Your graphic design can be as simple as creating a happy air freshener when the holidays arrive: purple cute heart for Valentine’s day, An American flag for independence day, a scary pumpkin for Halloween, even happy B-days quotes for people who know their friends and family B-days.

22.- Mousepad

Selling print on demand mousepads is a new product that I’ve seen many POD companies carrying since the first quarter of 2022. The cost is incredibly low which means we can set it at a higher price to buy more Starbucks drinks next week when we sell a few.

An example can be a very cool “Metroid Prime” theme design kind of background to sell it to the video-gamers, specifically to Nintendo users (it’s a Nintendo game). This game is outside of Mario Bros, The Legend Of Zelda, Donkey Kong has to be in the top 10 between all the icon characters.

23.- Die-Cut Metal Signs

Selling print on demand die-cut metal signs or as I like to call it, metal signs home decor: can be a huge hit for families who love to decorate their house in and out.

A quick example of this can be like selling metal signs with a motivational quote using fancy fonts so the buyer can place it on their living room walls or kitchen walls. It will make the inner house not just stand out more but give it more life to be in that section of the house for hours.

Another could be metal signs of animals such as: deers, tigers, elephants, pigs, dogs, cats, birds, snakes, sharks, spiders, butterflies, cows, goats, and the whole animal kingdom you can think of.

24.- Doormats

Almost every household in America has a doormat in front of their door before one can access their house or even to your own house. The first intention of a doormat is to read the quote or look at the image before you clean your shoes to run inside the house to play videogames…ha!

In order to sell a print on demand doormat we must find a unique approach to it, what message can your ideal customer resonate with. Once you find the answer to this question, I believe it would be a very cool POD product to sell to your audience.

25.- Cutting Boards

Selling print on demand cutting boards to people who love cooking in the kitchen with a special unique design or message can also be a one hit wonder. If you sit back and think about it, everyone has a kitchen regardless if you live in a house, condo or apartment. We need something to cut on.

As of now, I personally haven’t added this golden POD product just yet but I’ll be doing soon with a unique design that I created for other products. Just hoping that the dream customer I’m going after, they like to cut and cook their own food…ha!

26.- Christmas Ornaments

Selling print on demand christmas ornaments can be a really neat idea when after Halloween is over to start creating some buzz for a December special! I think that adding happy characters from cartoons or animal faces can be very eye-catching and nice to decorate their X-mas tree.

27.- Balloons

Selling print on demand balloons is a fun idea for birthday parties or any type of celebration. Celebrations and parties always have balloons, so make sure to prepare a few of them.

Another thought can be like during holidays. Just make sure to tailor the message or design to your dream customer to make some sales!

28.- Glassware

Selling print on demand glassware for people who like to see their drinking liquid such as lemonade, beer or even a glass of wine, would be a fantastic group of people to go after.

There are many different sizes of glassware that always require a specific size design print so make sure you think of something awesome that can take up most of the space so your design can appear, like a brand logo.

29.- LED Night Lights

I’ve only seen one company so far in the POD business having print on demand LED night lights. Yet, I think we will see the rise of these very soon going from 5-7 inch tall with a base of like 4 inches to making twice its size and going for a higher cost.

I don’t know the details of this POD product but I’m pretty sure you can shape it to your design, at least I hope because there is no way we can place our digital unique design on something like this. If you have done this, let me and the rest of us know in the comments please!

30.- Jewelry

Selling print on demand jewelry sounds very unrealistic but it’s actually a thing that not many POD entrepreneurs know about and the few that know like myself, we keep it as a secret!

Now unfortunately, we cannot manipulate the design of the necklace but we can create a message on the note card that will be placed inside the jewelry box to the client.

The way I like to picture this is to create a happy quote card to people who have a significant other B-day coming soon or anniversary date approaching to give as a gift to create an unforgettable memory.
